6 Top Tips for Creating Content as a Solo Business Owner
If you’re a solo business owner like me, you probably know how overwhelming it can be to juggle everything—from running your business to keeping up with content creation. Whether you're in the wedding industry, hospitality, or tourism, the pressure to consistently show up on social media is real! But here's a little secret: content creation doesn't have to be difficult, and it doesn't need to be perfect. Often, the best content comes from your everyday life.
Here are my top tips for making content creation easier when you're on your own:

1. Capture Content On the Go
If you’re out on a walk, getting your daily coffee, or even just sat at your desk, find somewhere to prop up your phone and hit record. You don’t need a fancy set-up, just film snippets of what you're already doing. I promise, all those little moments of you living your life—whether it’s enjoying a coffee or strolling through the park—can come together to create an engaging reel.
Top tip: Don’t overthink it! Audiences love authenticity, so just be yourself.
2. Set Reminders to Record
It’s easy to get so wrapped up in work that you forget to capture content. Try setting an hourly reminder on your phone. When it goes off, take 10 seconds to record whatever’s in front of you—whether it’s your workspace, your lunch, or even your feet as you walk down the hall. These short clips are perfect for adding to B-roll or creating behind-the-scenes content.
Remember: Even the everyday stuff like shutting your laptop or walking into a room can be turned into great background footage for reels.
3. Film the Mundane
Don’t be afraid to film the “boring” bits of your day. You’d be surprised how well they can work as background content. Whether it's typing on your keyboard, rearranging your desk, or simply walking across the room, those small moments can become useful B-roll for future posts.
P.S. Simple clips can be enhanced with a catchy caption, trending audio, or a voiceover later. It’s all about how you use it!
4.Book a Content Creator
Feeling like you need a more professional touch or just fancy a break from being behind the camera? This is where hiring a content creator (like me!) can really help. Having someone else handle the filming and editing allows you to focus on running your business. Plus, you’ll get polished content tailored to your brand without the stress. It’s a win-win!

5. Team Up with a Friend
Creating content doesn’t always have to be a solo mission. Team up with a friend or fellow business owner and make a day of it! You can take turns filming each other, bounce ideas around, and, most importantly, have a bit of fun with it. When you’re more relaxed, the content flows naturally—and some of the best moments come from being a little silly.
Bonus: It’s much easier to stay motivated when you’ve got someone to share the load!
6. Relax and Have Fun
At the end of the day, social media is meant to be fun and engaging, not a source of stress. Relax, let your personality shine, and don’t be afraid to be a bit playful. Audiences love seeing the real, human side of your business, so whether it’s behind-the-scenes content, outtakes, or everyday moments, remember that done is better than perfect.
Creating content as a solo business owner doesn’t have to be complicated. Keep it simple, capture moments from your daily life, and, above all, enjoy the process!
